Classic! Film yang dibuat oleh Tobe Cooper ini adalah film yang membuka Texas Chain Saw Massacre di Hollywood, sebuah horror flick yang katanya berdasarkan dari kejadian nyata yakni pembunuhan berantai yang dilakukan oleh Ed Gein. Selebihnya, film ini juga menyatakan kalau karakter dari Leatherface yang ada di film ini adalah karakter yang nyata dengan menampilkan adegan pembuka kalau kejadian nyata dari film ini berlangsung pada tahun 1973. Ini agak sedikit mengejutkan karena film ini hanya punya waktu setahun untuk 'dilahirkan' di dalam deretan film horor Hollywood. But, anyway, film ini benar-benar creepy menurutku.

Berawal dari sebuah penemuan mayat yang dipajang di kuburan, film ini membuka cerita dengan premise kalau film ini akan menuju ke arah sebuah kasus yang belum terpecah. Lalu, akhirnya aku dikenalkan dengan lima remaja yang nantinya akan menjadi pembuka cerita film ini. Lima remaja ini adalah Sally, Jerry, Franklin, Kirk, and Pam. Perjalanan mereka biasa-biasa saja sampai akhirnya mereka bertemu dengan seseorang yang menumpang mobil mereka.Orang tersebut kelihatan normal sampai akhirnya dia melakukan sesuatu yang membuat mereka berlima terkejut dan kaget. Setelah kegilaan yang ditawarkan di film ini sedikit demi sedikit menanjak naik dan mereka akhirnya bertemu dengan penentu nasib terakhir mereka.

Karakter Franklin yang menjadi pembuka film ini. Dia yang menyadari bahwa ada sesuatu yang aneh sedang terjadi di sekitar mereka, tapi sikapnya yang menyebalkan membuat semua orang tidak begitu mendengarkan perkataannya. Bahkan Sally, saudara perempuannya juga tidak begitu menanggapi kekhawatiran Franklin sampai akhirnya Sally bertemu dengan Leatherface. Yang membuat film ini menyeramkan adalah adegannya yang terlihat begitu natural. Kirk yang pertama kali bertemu dengan Leatherface tanpa babibu langsung berakhir di tangan Leatherface dengan cara yang cukup mengenaskan. Belum lagi, setting dari film ini yang katanya menggunakan properti tulang yang asli, membuat film ini cukup menegangkan untuk ditonton. Film ini benar-benar a journey to madness. Tidak hanya karakter villain yang ditampilkan sebagai orang-orang gila di film ini, tapi karakter protagonistnya juga diubah menjadi gila. Hal inilah yang membuat film ini menjadi keliatan sangat disturbing dimana Cooper mencoba merefleksikan kegilaan senyata mungkin. Buatku, film ini memang a truly gem of horror movie dan ending film ini sangat....kocak. Mungkin di zamannya, ending film ini bisa dibilang cukup intense walaupun buatku, ini malah bikin ketawa. Mungkin aku-nya aja yang punya reflek aneh liat endingnya karena kalau diliat-liat sih, endingnya sepertinya dan harusnya memberikan efek disturbing.

Sinopsis: When a YouTube video opened the veiled town dark secret about murder

The moment I knew that there will be Scream TY series, I was like "what the hell" but I was giving it a try and it's not that bad, imo. I'm kinda like it though there is some things that I don't understand about it, but it's okay, I enjoy the show. As the first season, this is good. In fact, it's beyond my expectation. The thing is while the first episode is giving me the impression that it just Scream in series, this series actually has a different path. The first murder in the pilot episode may remind you of Drew Barrymore's scene in Scream. However, later you'll find out that the series is not only about a slasher who wants to murder the protagonist. It's a new thing that the series tells you more about the protagonist, her friends, her mother, her college life and everything. I mean, you can't find it in the movie, since it's only about 2 hours or less. But, the screen writer can develop the story into interesting and makes-sense one. And it's clever to make me confused about who the murder is. Well, there is a time that I guess the right person but, it still makes me doubt that the person is the real murderer.

One thing that makes this series interesting for me is the appearance of Noah (played by John Karna). Well, he seems the encyclopedia of murder/slasher movies and he is the one who presents all of the notions seen in those kinds of movies. It's like the movie is all about him since he KNOWS everything and yeah, some of his hypothesis are true and that's what makes him looks like the real murderer. But yeah, you won't know about that until the ending. It's pretty amazing (imo) to know that the real murderer is actually that person.

Another one, well, I must admit that I haven't watched many American TV series but, I'm just a bit surprised that there are some explicit scenes in here (which something's a bit too much to be on TV, imo). It's also a bit surpassing the movie version, but that's what makes this series refreshing than the TV version. It shows you the horror in these days. A mere stab won't affect the audience in the recent days, people need to see something beyond their imagination. Exaggerating things that still can be imaginable.
In sum, when I watched this series, I can find some hints about Craven's Scream, but the story is pretty different. Idk if Wes Craven will like this version, but I'm relieved that these people doesn't turn Craven's masterpiece into piece of shit. Ah ya, I've heard that there will be the second season of Scream. Am bit anxious and hope that it won't just be a junk series to milk out more money.
