I just feel like someone's watching me

Sinopsis: A student who's living alone in NYC and being stalked.

Is this some kind of being Peeping Tom? This is what is in my head when I saw this movie. Well, this movie invites you to peek the life of Emma Taylor, a random college student who just start to live alone in NYC. You'll watch her in her college, house, almost every her activity captured in the movie. All of the scenes are the pieces of what she is doing during a day and it's taken from her webcam and phone. Then, I just realized that the people this day is too much depended on their gadgets while the gadgets can be the ones which endanger your lives. I think this is the one that the movie wants to deliver about. It's not that impossible that there are people who can stalk you over your phone and webcam. I mean, this digital era makes everything possible and one of it is stalking you from your own devices. This movie, while it has a simple notion, it gives me a nice and frightening impression that this kind of situation can be happened to anyone. You''ll being watched by someone and you have no idea who it is. In the movie, the stalking situation is different than the one which done in the past and it's not something that you want to happen in your life.

However, there is something that annoys me with the movie. It's when the director wants to build the tension when Emma's asleep and the stalker wandered in her house. I mean, the pace is so slow in here. Instead of being frightened, I just got bored when this moment came. And one thing, it's just amazing that Emma always her gadgets on everytime. I mean, I'm not a gadget-person. Most of the time, I just keep my cellphone on my pocket or bag, except for my laptop since I've spent my time mostly by watching movies. But, yeah, people these days are captured by the social media and everything. Maybe people like Emma aren't impossible nowadays. In short, I think Ratter is a good thriller which can show you how this thing can be happened to anyone. And if you're expecting for thriller movies with blood and running and screaming anywhere and anytime, Ratter is not your thing because it's rather to make you frightened in a very slowly way. Don't forget to watch the post- ending credits scene!
