About a Film: Lake Mungo (2008)

Another documentary. The story tells about a sixteen-year-old Alice Palmer who drown at a dam in Australia. She's on picnic with her family and then, she went swimming, and later, the family found out that she's missing. Then, the story goes with the comments from her family and friends. They talked about Alice's personality, relationship with others, and how she changed into someone different before she's missing in the dam. For me, the story's okay until the disturbing image came. Somehow, it makes me uneasy. Well, I'm used to watch horror films and stuffs like that, but this documentary leave me an eerie feeling. It's a good documentary, imo. Though it's a low budget  project, it surely gives me a big impression. I'm not a quite fan for a documentary film, but this one is impressive.

Other than that, this film is well-structured. So god-damn structured until I saw the ending credit and.....I felt betrayed, I guess. I don't want to spill the beans, but for some people who had watched this documentary, you must know what I meant. Well, I watched this documentary without knowing anything about it. I just saw it, terrified, and then, the ending credit came, and....why? Why this documentary can be so good that it makes me so stupid since I don't realize about it, at all. Guess, if you're into horror and documentary, you have to see this one. It's worth your time. But, if you're asking me to re-watch it, I will say no because I can still feel that eerie atmosphere.

(trailer, guys!)
