Well, since it is my personal blog, then I will tell you my real feeling during watching this drama. I don't like it. No, it's not the story. The story's good and above of all, it's related to cooking. I do love cooking drama. Then, the answer goes to the cast. I don't like the cast, the main cast specifically. Yes, I don't like Takeru Satoh. I'd admitted he's a pretty good actor, one of the best in his era, I guess. But, no, seeing him is a like torture for me. What makes me keep watching this drama is just because this drama's about cooking. Other than that, I can't express how tiring to watch this drama since I don't like Takeru Satoh and he's always appeared almost in every scene (he's the main character, after all). So, yeah, I can't enjoy the drama pretty well. But, my friends who watched this, said that this is a good one. Well, they don't expect him to be a cheater husband. But, it's a good one, according to them.
Well, I haven't much opinion about the casts. So, I'll talk about the story. The story is based on the novel by Hisahide Sugimori entitled "Tenno no Ryoriban" in 1979. This is a novel based on a true life of a man named Tokuzo Akiyama. So, it can be said that this is an autobiographical drama. And the plot is a good-for-nothing man named Tokuzo Akiyama who found his passion in cooking after eating cutlet prepared by Yukichi Tanabe, a military cook. He learnt to cook in Tokyo and moved to Paris to study more about western food and culinary arts. After struggling in many ways, he finally became a chef in a prestigious Ritz Hotel in Paris. Then, he came back to Japan and became a chef for the Emperor. The story, sometimes it's sad, it's funny, as usual it describes about the hardwork of a Japanese man in achieving his goal in his life. It's good, if I'm not pretty biased about the main cast.
